A made to order mobile experience

This was one of those times when we’re involved from day dot. 

In helping launch bespoke furniture company Perch & Parrow, the challenge was to take a brand proposition and translate it into a cutting-edge website with a “been around for years” feel. To do this, we built a fast mobile-first Magento 2 site with bespoke functionality that outstripped established competitors. The result was a successful launch, crucial early growth and ROI.

Helping with the homework

Founded by a B2B group that makes furniture for well-known brands, the Perch & Parrow brand began with two questions: “What if we could sell directly to the end customer ourselves?” and “What if we could do it better than anyone else?”

After they had the idea, they decided to visit JH. 

Our challenge was to transform their proposition into a cutting-edge website with a “been around for years” feel and seamless user experience. Thankfully we knew the sector so well that we could help them jump two steps ahead, even helping them to build an experienced talented team from our network of contacts.

Bespoke furniture, bespoke functionality

With much of the furniture made to order, Perch & Parrow offer a dazzling amount of options to customise even a simple sofa. 

Yes, you can choose from 130 beautiful fabric swatches but you can also select the style and finish of your sofa legs. The functionality to provide this level of customisation without taking hundreds of photos didn’t yet exist. So we had to invent it and build it into the Magento 2 platform.

We also created a “component” based design that allowed greater editorial freedom.  Helping customers easily order fabric swatches also helped intelligently inform stock quantities.

Moving in, moving on

The end result was a new site with the form and function of a premium brand that’s existed forever. A dash of exclusivity whilst being accessible and easy to use for all. In solving one of the toughest challenges in furniture (and user experience) ahead of well-established competitors, customers can fully customize their own beautiful furniture.
